LDU Guard In Oyam Gets Life Sentence For Curfew Murder Of 65yo Man

The chairman of Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) 5th Division Court Martial Col. Paul Omara sitting at Amiti Primary School Kamdini Sub County in Oyam district has sentenced two Local Defence Unit (LDU) officers to life imprisonment and 40 years in prison.

The LDU officers are Felix Okumu and Jolly Thomas Opoka. The same court sentenced Geoffrey Ogwang, a UPDF officer to 20 years in prison. The trio is accused of killing 65-year-old Francis Ogwang Manu.

Prosecution led by Lt. Alex Rasto Mukhwana told the court that accused persons with malice caused the death of Francis Ogwang on 27th June after beating him while enforcing curfew guidelines.
