Bobi Wine Wins Africa Freedom Award In South Africa

Government critic and presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi who is also the Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East has today been bestowed with the Africa Freedom Award, 2019 at a ceremony in South Africa.

Kyagulanyi, also known by his singing name of Bobi Wine has in the recent past won and collected numerous global awards hailing his political and human rights defending efforts in Uganda.

Under is People Power politically motivated initiative Bobi Wine has emerged as the leading political opponent to President Yoweri Museveni who has according to political pundits recklessly ruled Uganda for the past three decades.

The Africa Freedom Award, 2019, organized by Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Africa, this year paid 'tribute to the freedom fighters of the world.'

The Freedom Award is a celebration of acts by young liberals or liberal-minded youth around the world who have done an incredible effort to enhance and promote liberal values of human rights, democracy, and inclusive, plural societies, the organizers said.

Bobi wine Thursday arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa following his nomination.

He was later hosted by SABC, South Africa's largest television network to discuss among others political issues in Uganda, unemployment and LGBTIQ.
